It’s been forever since I’ve really blogged! The holidays will do that, I suppose.
Let’s see….I’ll try to fill you in on the happenings here and post a few funnies that happened over the weekend.
Christmas here at home: We spent Christmas Eve and Day here at our home. It’s always a wonderful time of church, family, gifts, food, and fun. We went to the Children’s Service at our church on Christmas Eve. Mr 9 was Joseph in the children’s nativity portion of the sermon. He looked so cute in his little costume, standing next to Mary. We were all proud of him. There were about 300 people in attendance at that service so that’s a lot of eyes looking at you when you’re in front. On Christmas Day, we went to church at 10am. But before that, at 6:30am, our children woke us up with excitement to open gifts. When Amblin Man and I came downstairs, all 4 children were sitting lined up in front of the tree…just waiting! Later that evening, we had Christmas dinner at the home of our neighbor. Those of us who are not out of town gather each holiday at varying homes for dinner. It’s a nice time and always fun.
The next day, we left for our family vacation to visit my husband’s family in Florida. We drove there (took about 14 hours) and had a wonderful time. The weather was perfect! We did the zoo, the children’s museum, the mall for shopping with Abuelita, the pool (every day twice a day!), dinners out, lots of family time, and lots of chocolate. I think I gained another 3 pounds!! (That will be covered more later in the Amblin New Year Goals post! LOL)
We got back this last weekend and I’m still getting the house back in order. Our eldest started back to school today and so things are getting back to a more regular schedule. Mr 11 and Mr 9 are in year round school. They are currently tracked out and so will go back to school at the end of January. We have lots of fun things planned and it should be a great time of family time. Mr 4 is so busy playing with his new toys…he doesn’t have time for much else! He loves his Knights dress up, his construction toys set, his Webkinz, his card games, and etc etc etc.
I received some wonderful gifts this year. One of them was the new Duggar family book called “20 and Counting”. I know some out there do not like the Duggars. I happen to admire anyone who loves children and the Lord. They may have a few different lifestyle beliefs than I … but we have a lot more in common than not. The book is really good…I’ve gotten quite a few “large family” tips from it and am looking forward to re-reading it this week.
Well, that’s a catch up post if I ever saw one!
Welcome back!
I don’t know why people are bothered by the Duggars. They have a family they love, support, and take care of. I say good for them!
Miami…Did you go to Pollo Tropical? It’s one of the things I miss most about South Florida!
I LOVE Pollo Tropical! Yummy!
We didn’t get there this time though. We ate at La Carreta though…yummy Cuban food. I had ropa vieja which I love but can’t seem to cook correctly.
Actually, my very favorite thing about Miami food is pastellitos. I love pastellitos de coco, de carne, de pizza, y de queso. I could eat the carne and coco ones by the boxful. Yikes! Loads of calories…
